About Me

Scott Startsman was the youngest fully vested owner-associate of Kahala Associates, served on the Kahala Associates’ Board of Directors, chaired the company’s technology committee and is a top 1% sales producer on Oahu. Scott is President of the Kahala Business Association Board of Directors and is also the former President of the Diamond Head Hillside AOAO Board of Directors and the AOAO Board treasurer.

In 2011, Scott was recognized as one of the top young business professionals by Pacific Business News. He was selected to the prestigious class of “40 Under Forty”. His clients have nominated him for the prestigious “Aloha Aina Award” every year from 2005 through 2015 in recognition of his outstanding client care. Scott was a finalist for the SMEI Distinguished Sales and Marketing Awards for Hawaii in 2012. He also oversees a roughly $35 million dollar investment portfolio, handling the transactions and staying up on the market, giving direction for when to buy and sell. Scott also develops small scale residential projects. In addition to Scott’s sales achievements, he is known for his unparalleled client service, negotiation skills, and thorough understanding of market conditions. Scott’s family has been doing real estate investing and development for 40 years. He has grown up understanding real estate and the values and benefits of real estate from a financial standpoint. Scott spends time educating clients on how to reach their financial goals through real estate. Creativity, valuation and negotiation of the process are Scott’s specialty.

In addition, as President of Diamond Head Hillside Board of Directors and as the AOAO Treasurer, Scott has a thorough knowledge of how associations work and operate. This expertise allows him to better help clients understand the often complicated association docs and all the aspects of AOAO living that may affect them.

Originally from North Carolina, Scott vacationed most of his life in Hawaii and in 1999 decided to move permanently to the Islands. He attended Appalachian State University and UNC-Charlotte were he was a scholarship athlete in soccer, making the academic honor roll 3 years while being apart of the nationally ranked soccer program. Scott has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a focus on marketing and sales. He spent a semester a part of a study abroad program in England and Scotland. After completing his degree he interned with Interealty Corp. where he helped identify strategic real estate trends.

Scott is a member of the Metro Honolulu Rotary, is on the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association BTBJ annual fundraising event, he has coached youth soccer with the Honolulu Bulls, enjoys the outdoors by hiking, surfing, biking and through open ocean swims. He also stays in shape through Crossfit. Hawaii’s warm weather and climate allow him to work hard and play hard all year around.
