Earning the selection committee’s high praise, Earl embodies the values of the REALTOR® organization, making meaningful contributions to the advancement of the real estate profession, agents that he interacts with, and the community at large.
Prior to obtaining his real estate in 1972, Earl worked in finance and accounting. He was appointed the Executive Vice President for HBR, a position he held from 1975-1978 before being recruited by a mainland franchise. He has built a long and successful career in various executive roles at Prudential Real Estate and BHHS on the mainland and in Hawai’i. Earl’s decades of experience earned him a spot on Inman’s list of the 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders for his ingenuity, strength of conviction, and persistence to drive change in the industry.
Earl has always sought work that challenges him and allows him to work with people. He is a supportive mentor and active Principal Broker who attends board events and meetings and accompanies his agents to open houses. He always shares his knowledge and expertise everywhere he goes and with whom he interacts.
Since the 1970s, Earl has been and continues to be an active volunteer, serving in 13 positions with HBR and HiCentral MLS, including HBR Director (2021-2023; 1983-1984), MLS Director (2017-2020), sitting on many committees and task forces focused on city affairs, finance, and the MLS. In addition, Earl has held seven positions with HAR, including President (1981) and 12 positions with NAR. His background in finance makes Earl an integral member of HBR’s Finance Task Force this year to review its Reserve Fund and investment policies.
Outside of the real estate profession, Earl has given his time to serve on the Board of Directors of various organizations that included Worldwide ERC, Asian American Association, and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professions.

Not only does Derek exemplify a high standard of professionalism, but he is also remarkably committed to education. He has earned seven prominent National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) designations, including Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS).
Derek’s commitment to giving back to his community and profession is evident by nearly ten years of volunteer service as a Board Director for the local, state, and national association of REALTORS®, in addition to numerous other leadership roles. He has held ten positions with HBR and HiCentral MLS, including HiCentral MLS President (2017). Derek has held more than ten positions with HAR, including 2021 President, and his NAR committee experience spans six positions.
A champion of REALTOR® advocacy, Derek served as HBR City Affairs Committee Chair (2015-2018), HAR Government Affairs Committee member, and Federal Political Coordinator for NAR representing REALTORS® in the State of Hawai’i. Derek supports RPAC as a Major Investor (Sterling R) and served on the City Council Task Force on Fire Sprinklers.
Outside of real estate, Derek is a past president of the Board of Directors for the United Cerebral Palsy Association (2016-2017) and was Chairman of the Board for Hawaii’s Technology Development Corporation in 2017-2018.

Jack is passionate about helping people buy and sell what he believes is the most valuable asset a person can have – a place to call home. He views his customers as lifelong clients and does his due diligence to find the buyers’ a perfect fit despite low inventory and the challenges of a competitive market. As both a REALTOR® and broker, Jack is deeply knowledgeable and known for his ability to seamlessly and transparently guide all parties throughout the transaction process.
After serving time in the military, Jack began his real estate career in 1991 and founded Legal Realty in 2001. He has shown tremendous commitment to education, earning at least three prominent National Association of REALTORS® designations, including CRS and CRB, and has been an instructor to his peers. He has been and continues to be an active volunteer, serving in more than 10 positions with the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, eight positions with the Hawai‘i Association of REALTORS® and five positions with the National Association of REALTORS®. Currently, he is serving as the President of the Hawai‘i Association of REALTORS®. Jack’s leadership also extends to the political arena. He has been a critical liaison for the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® with the Mayor’s office, navigating the emergency orders and advocating to keep real estate open for business safely.
Outside of real estate, Jack is actively involved in the community serving as a member of his neighborhood board, a director for Olelo Community Media, a board member for the Kapolei & Filipino Chamber of Commerce and a Council Officer for the Hawai‘i Ballroom Dance Association. When he’s not volunteering in the community, Jack can be found golfing or dreaming about his standing weekly tee-time.

The 2019 recipient of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® prestigious REALTOR® of the Year Award is Lurline R. Johnson, Vice President and Broker-in-Charge at Property Profiles, Inc. where she oversees the property management division.
Lurline began her real estate career in 1999. Over her twenty-year career, she has proven herself to be a dedicated volunteer who gives her time and talents to the REALTOR® organization. She currently serves as the Vice President of HiCentral MLS, Ltd.
Not only does Lurline embody the high professional and ethical standards that are expected of REALTORS®, she helps others in the field in their professional development and to uphold ethical practices. Lurline is a valued member of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® (HBR) Professional Standards Committees, where she has served on the Mediation Committee since 2011 and was on the Grievance Committee for six years prior to that. In addition, Lurline volunteers as an education instructor to teach Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) Property Management classes. She has been actively involved in the Hawaii Real Estate Business Institute (REBI) Chapter, holding numerous leadership positions from Secretary in 2010 to Hawaii Chapter President in 2013. Hawaii REBI honored Lurline with its highest distinction, the Pinnacle Award, in 2016.
Lurline’s leadership extends to the state and national association levels. She has volunteered in a number of capacities with Hawaii REALTORS® (HAR) since 2010. Lurline was Secretary for HAR and served on the HAR Executive Committee in 2017 and is a long-time facilitator and trustee of HAR’s Leadership Academy. Lurline played a large role in starting and growing the Oahu Chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM), which is now one of the largest in the nation. A NARPM Board Member since 2004, Lurline has also served as President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Oahu Chapter.
As a strong supporter of REALTOR® advocacy, Lurline has been an RPAC (REALTOR® Political Action Committee) investor since 2001 and became a Major Investor this year, reaching Sterling R level. RPAC gives the REALTOR® community a voice at the federal, state, and local levels to advocate for homeownership issues for the benefit of homeowners, renters, and the industry.
On top of that, Lurline is passionate about helping children and animals. She lends her time to support the Children’s Cancer Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, Ronald McDonald House, Shriners, and Poi Dogs & Popoki. When she’s not volunteering for the Board or the community, Lurline enjoys walking her dog Kula, tide pooling, reading, and watching old movies.

2018 - Leona E. Soto

The 2018 recipient of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® prestigious REALTOR® of the Year Award is Leona E. Soto, Broker-in-Charge at Liberty Homes.
Leona began her real estate career in 1979. During her nearly 40 years in real estate, Leona has been a devoted volunteer to her local, state, and national REALTOR® associations. She is a past President of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® (HBR), Hawaii Aloha Chapter of Certified Residential Specialists (CRS), and Hawaii Certified Residential Brokerage Management (CRB) Chapter. She also served as a Director at Large and Vice President for Hawaii REALTORS® (HAR). In 1997, Leona was recognized by her peers as the CRS of the Year for the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS.
Throughout her long career, Leona served on countless committees for HBR and HAR, even holding the position of Committee Chair for HBR’s Nominating Committee, as well as HAR’s Issues Mobilization Program, Political Communications Network, Public Relations Forum, and Education Committee. Her volunteerism extends to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) where she served on seven committees between 1989-1995.
Leona continues to volunteer her time with HBR. As a supporter of REALTOR® advocacy, she served on the RPAC (REALTOR® Political Action Committee) Task Force for HBR this year. She has been an RPAC investor since 1991. RPAC supports political candidates at the federal, state, and local levels who understand and support important homeownership issues for the benefit of homeowners and renters.
In her role as Broker-in-Charge, Leona offers years of experience and guidance to her agents and is a Notary Public to better serve her clients.
In addition to her volunteer service to the real estate industry, Leona is an active member of Soroptimist International of Central Oahu, an international organization serving the community in making a better place for women and girls. When she’s not volunteering for the Board or the community, Leona enjoys golfing, Zumba, line dancing, and various arts and crafts activities.

John began his real estate career in 1989, after completing 21 years of service in the United States Marine Corps.
He has a long list of accomplishments in the REALTOR® organization, serving for more than 25 years in numerous volunteer leadership positions at the local and state levels. John previously served as HBR Chairman in 2001, Director for the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®, and President of the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS in 1997.
His commitment to the real estate profession extends to the national level serving on the Board of Directors and Professional Standards and Ethics Committee. He is a major investor in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee, which supports political candidates at the federal, state, and local levels who best represent REALTORS® and the interests of the real estate industry.
In 1998, John was recognized by his peers as the Certified Residential Specialist of the Year for the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS, and in 2012 was named REALTOR® of the Year for the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®.
John is just as dedicated to the community as he is to his REALTOR® profession. He has been an active youth basketball coach for more than 25 years and continues to coach players, ages 6-18, at the Kalakaua Basketball Clinic. John is an active donor at the Blood Bank of Hawaii and has completed more than 400 Aphaeresis (platelet) donations.

Stephanie began her career in real estate in 1973 as a REALTORASSOCIATE®, achieving REALTOR® status in 1980, and REALTOR® Emeritus status in 2013 for four decades of membership to the National Association of REALTORS®.
Throughout her long career, Stephanie has been an enthusiastic and devoted volunteer to her local, state and national REALTOR® associations. She recently served as the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® Windward/North Shore Regional Director, a role that requires countless hours of her time each year. In addition to serving as a director for the Board, Stephanie has previously served as a director for the Hawaii Association of REALTORS® (HAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
She has also served as HAR president in 2012 and president of the Hawaii Chapter of the Council of Real Estate Broker Managers (CRB) in 2003.
In 2008, Stephanie was named REALTOR® of the Year by the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®.
Stephanie is a major investor in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee, which supports political candidates at the federal, state and local levels who best represent REALTORS® and the interests of the real estate industry. She also served as the National Association of REALTORS® Federal Political Coordinator for Senator Mazie Hirono for five years.
In addition to her numerous volunteer contributions to the real estate industry, Stephanie has also given generously of her time and talents to her community, serving on the board of directors of Kama’aina Kids for nearly 20 years.

The 2015 recipient of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®’ coveted REALTOR® of the Year Award is a familiar face and presence in Hawaii’s real estate scene: Julie A. Meier, Broker-in-Charge with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hawaii Realty.
Julie began her career as a REALTOR® in 2005, after 20 years as the Corporate Chief Accountant for the Halekulani Corporation. That financial background has enabled Julie to take on key roles in many aspects of her work with real estate industry organizations.
She is the immediate past president of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, and was instrumental in establishing HBR’s financial reserve guidelines. That allowed HBR to go ahead with long-planned renovations to its headquarters, resulting in a beautiful, sleek and modern office in Kaimuki. Before that, Julie served in a number of positions in the organization’s East Oahu Regional Group and on various HBR committees, including the Audit, Bylaws, and Policy Governance committees.
She has also served in a number of roles with the Hawai‘i Association of REALTORS®, including Finance Committee co-chair. Her work continues today with the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS (Council of Residential Specialists), where she is spearheading the reorganization of the chapter under new National Association of REALTORS® guidelines. On top of that, she just completed a term as an at-large representative on the NAR Board of Directors.
Julie has been the recipient of numerous REALTOR® awards. Right off the bat she was named an Aloha ‘Aina Outstanding Newcomer for 2005. She followed that up with a 2010 Aloha ‘Aina REALTOR® Award for exceptional service to her clients. In 2011 she became president of the Hawaii chapter of CRS, and in 2013 she won the chapter’s CRS of the Year award.
On top of that, Julie has also devoted much time to charitable works, including volunteering with Legacy of Life Hawaii, which arranges for organ donations and transplants for patients in need. She currently is the chair-elect, served as a director, and has also been a member of the Budget, Finance and Nominations Committee. She has also served on the USC Alumni Club of Hawaii Board of Directors.
Born in Aiea, Julie is a graduate of Maryknoll High School and the University of Southern California, where she earned her undergraduate degree in accounting.
She and her husband Greg have two children, Kawohi and Ashley, as well as her South African Mastiff Gunnar. Julie stays active by taking part in marathons and triathlons, loves to travel, and continues to rabidly support her beloved USC football team.

For more than 25 years, Allison Lum has served as principal broker of Plum Associates, Inc., a role that allows her to combine her business background with her passion for real estate.
After earning her MBA from Boston College, the Punahou alumna returned to Oahu to launch her career in real estate, following in her mother’s footsteps. Allison joined the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, the Hawaii Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® in 1988.
She has since served in a variety of leadership roles, including vice president of the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS, director of the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®, and director of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®. Allison is committed to sharing her knowledge of the real estate industry with her fellow REALTORS®. In 2013 she became a Realtors Property Resource® instructor for the National Association of REALTORS® and now leads monthly classes on Oahu. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Aloha ‘Aina REALTOR® Award, which recognizes REALTORS® who have demonstrated exemplary service to their clients and colleagues.
Allison is a generous supporter of the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center, which provides education and support to prospective first-time homeowners. She is also an accomplished cook and wine enthusiast, and enjoys long car rides with her golden retriever, Keawe.

The Honolulu Board of REALTORS® honored Anne Keamo as the 2013 REALTOR® of the Year, as well as the Aloha ‘Aina REALTOR® Award recipients at the 2013 Holiday General Membership Meeting held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
It wasn’t long after her first real estate jobs with Mike McCormick Realty and Luke & Luke Realty that Anne I.W. Keamo started Properties Unlimited Inc. in 1984, where she was President/REALTOR® for 27 years. Anne has been a Vice President REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties since 2011.
A tireless leader in the Real Estate community, Anne has been a member, since 1973, of Honolulu Board of REALTORS® (HBR), Hawaii Association of REALTORS® (HAR) and National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). She has served as Vice President of Hawaii CRS Chapter, President of the Hawaii CRB, and President of HBR. She has also been a director with both HAR and NAR. Anne has her eye on the future of the industry, too, as a member of the Young Professionals Network since 2012. Anne is a past winner of the CRB Pinnacle Award, CRS of the Year and the Aloha ‘Aina REALTORS® Award.
Active in the community, Anne has supported such efforts as REALTORS® for Opera (Hawaii Opera Theatre) and Ke Ali‘i Pauahi, which supports her high school alma mater, Kamehameha Schools. She stays fit through Dahn Yoga, and, when not doing all of the above, enjoys mah jong and baking cakes for parties and family gatherings.

The Honolulu Board of REALTORS® honored Guy Tamashiro as the 2012 REALTOR® of the Year, as well as the Aloha ‘Aina REALTOR® Award recipients at the 2012 Holiday General Membership Meeting held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Guy Tamashiro started his long real estate career as a full time sales agent with Herbert K. Horita Realty. In the early years he was the Sales Manager of West Oahu projects we know as Village Park and the Royal Kunia subdivisions. In 1993, Guy along with 9 other agents founded West Oahu Realty. Guy still serves President and Principle Broker.
Guy has always given back to the Real Estate community by serving on many organizations. He has been a member of CRS and CRB since 1989, even serving as President of CRB. He has also served as Chairman of the Honolulu Board of Realtors.
Guy’s service didn’t just end with Real Estate. In his early years Guy served our country in the United States Air Force for four years. He is active with the BIA, the Waipahu Business Association and Waipahu Community Association. He also currently a board member for the Leeward YMCA and has served as past president. Guy is also a member of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce and has served as Director for the Hawaii Homeownership Center.

The Honolulu Board of REALTORS® honored Sandra "Sam" Bangerter as the 2010 REALTOR® of the Year, as well as the Aloha ‘?ina REALTOR® Award recipients at the 2011 Holiday General Membership Meeting held on Friday, December 9, 2011.
Bangerter was selected to receive the 2011 REALTOR® of the Year based on her REALTOR® spirit, faithfulness to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, civic activity, business accomplishment, and local, state, and national REALTOR® participation. With over 40 years of living, working and making a difference in the real estate community, she is the principal broker of the family-owned and operated RE/Max Kai Lani. A past president and secretary of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, she has served on numerous committees and task forces over the years.
Additionally, she has represented the interests of Hawaii’s REALTORS® on the national level with the National Association of REALTORS®. Active in the community, Bangerter is a member of the Kailua Chamber of Commerce and supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the Hawaii Aloha Chapter Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) of the Year and the CRS Medallion Award .

2010 - Mary Flood

Flood, vice president of sales and marketing for D.R. Horton-Schuler Homes, has been in the real estate industry for more than 30 years. She is past president of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® and has served on numerous committees and task forces over the years. Flood has also represented the interests of Hawaii?s REALTORS® on the national level with the National Association of REALTORS®. Additionally, she is past president of the Building Industry Association. Outside of the real estate profession, Flood volunteers with numerous community organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Great Aloha Run, Scenic Hawaii and Special Olympics. She is also an active member of the Alpha Phi Alumni of Hawaii leading its scholarship committee to provide funds to advance the education of women and minorities. Flood has been recognized by her fellow REALTORS® for her outstanding contribution to the profession as an Aloha ‘?ina Award recipient.

He has also served on numerous committees for the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS®, and Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers. Hamamoto encourages his staff and colleagues to obtain professional designations and leads by example holding Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations. Campbell, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Honolulu, has been a member for over 29 years. She is an associate member of the Assistance League of Hawaii and does community service work through the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu. She has also served on the USO Board of Directors for twelve years, is currently on the YMCA Board of Managers for the Kaimuki-Waialae branch and was the 1998 President of the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of Certified Residential Specialists. Campbell believes that one of the keys to success is education and she has worked diligently to achieve the highest level of professionalism in her industry. She holds four of the real estate industry's most prestigious professional designations - Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer Agent (ABR), and Seniors' Real Estate Specialist (SRES). Kalbrener, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX 808 Realty, has been a REALTOR® member for 19 years and has served as president of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, as well as on numerous committees. She also serves on the boards of the Hawaii Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and is a member of NAR's Professional Standards and Ethics Committee. Leading by example, Kalbrener is a consistent multi-million dollar producer who believes in the power of education, networking and professional development, as demonstrated by her professional designations, including Graduate REALTOR® Institute, Certified Residential Specialist, and Senior Real Estate Specialist. The blue-ribbon REALTOR® of the Year Committee selects the honoree on the basis of REALTOR® spirit, faithfulness to the HBR REALTOR® Code of Ethics, civic activity, business accomplishments, and local, state, and national REALTOR® participation.
Wong, a broker with Realty Pacific, Ltd., has been an HBR member for more than 15 years and holds several REALTOR® designations, including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI). He has been an active member of the Board of Directors, serving on several committees, since 1998. In addition to his work with HBR, Wong is also involved with the Hawaii Association of REALTORS® and the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS, and has received these organizations' top honors as well. On the National level, Wong currently serves as a board member for the National Council of Residential Specialists and sits on the Nomination, Education and Strategic Planning Committees. Aside from his activities with the various professional organizations, Wong dedicates time to charitable causes. He commits volunteer time to the Alzheimer's Association Aloha Chapter and St. Louis High School.

Criz also serves on the Board of the Directors for the River of Life Mission.

Realtor® C. Scott Bradley of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties has been named the 2004 REALTOR® of the Year by the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®. The REALTOR® of the Year Award is the most distinguished award the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® has had the honor of presenting for the last 47 years.
“It is a privilege to have been part of the committee to select Scott as Honolulu Board of REALTORS’® 2004 REALTOR® of the Year,” said Mary Begier, immediate past president of HBR and REALTOR® of the Year in 2002. “I hear so many positive statements about how he has made a difference in the community. Scott has obviously impacted many walks of life in his career.”
Bradley is co-managing director of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties and oversees the company’s residential operations, including relocation, agent services, marketing and acquisitions. He is also the chairman of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties Commercial and partner and director of Pacific Access Mortgage.
Raised in Hawaii, Bradley began his real estate career in 1984 as a sales associate for Bradley Properties, Ltd. Over his tenure with the company, he held positions in new project management, finance and sales and marketing, and was promoted to president in 1992. Under his leadership, the company expanded its reputation as a leader in upscale residential sales.
Bradley is a director of the National Association of REALTORS®, a past president and past director of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, a past president of the Hawaii Association of REALTORS® and past chairman of the Coldwell Banker Franchisee Multi Office Broker Group. In 2002 he was named the Hawaii Association of REALTORS’® REALTOR® of the Year. Other honors include the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Pacific Business News’ 40 Under 40, both in 2000. He is also a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager. Bradley is active in numerous community organizations, including Young Presidents Organization, Hawaii Historical Society, Hawaii Historic Foundation, American Red Cross-Hawaii, Hawaii Business Round Table and Diamond Head Theatre.

2000 - Helen Lindemann

“Helen is the true REALTOR®’s REALTOR®,” said Norman Noguchi, 1998 REALTOR® of the Year and chair of the REALTOR® of the Year Committee. “Whatever she gets involved in, she always gives 110%, whether it is running her own real estate company, as principal broker for Prudential Locations, as past president of HBR or HAR, or skiing the slopes of Utah. She does it all and does it well.” Lindemann, who has been in the real estate industry for more than 15 years, is currently vice president of Prudential Locations LLC and branch manager for the Waialae office.
She held numerous leadership positions at the local and state levels. Joining HBR in 1983, she was an active Board member. She was president of HBR in 1996 and vice president in 1993 and has served on numerous Board committees, including the MLS Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. Lindemann was also 1999 president and 1997 vice president of the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®. She was named REALTOR® of the Year for HAR in 1993. In 1996, she was appointed by the Governor to a four-year term on the Hawaii Real Estate Commission.
At the national level, Lindemann served terms on the National Association of REALTORS® Federal Taxation Committee, the State and Municipal Taxation Committee, and Multiple Listing Policy Committee. Lindemann holds the designations of Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) and Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) from NAR.
Lindemann's real estate career began with Realty Specialists of Honolulu as a sales trainer and stockholder. She was later marketing director at Luke & Luke Realty of Honolulu for three years and then established her own consulting company, Lindemann, Inc. Before joining Prudential Locations, she was principal broker for Haseko Realty and co-owner of Properties Unlimited East.
